There is a gal in Mpls who cares for free-roaming community cats. She goes way beyond just feeding them...she takes responsibility for them by vaccinating and spay/neutering them. She takes in the pregnant ones and re-homes their kittens (also vaccinated and altered). Any cats that seem adoptable she will also try to re-home. Recently a cat who she named Pumpkin showed up at her door step. She thought it was a pregnant female, but eventually figured out it was a neutered male who was very skinny with an enlarged abdomen. She brought Pumpkin to the vet and is currently waiting for biopsy results on the mass in his stomach. It's super sad, Pumpkin was clearly ditched (he's neutered) and Hether has posted ads to find a previous owner with no luck. She's hoping for the best for poor Pumpkin but things aren't looking so great right now. On the other hand, he is safe and warm in her home, being loved on and fed, sleeping in his own little bed. Please read more on her facebook page and chip-in (below) for Pumpkin's vet expenses if able...even $5 will help. I can vouch that she's legit...I don't know her personally but the director of Pet Project Rescue does. Pumpkin's story reminds me of my sweet Lazo and I am so glad that Pumpkin has Hether at this time.
